Ginger Pye Book Review

When I was younger, I read this in primary school. Recently, I read this aloud to my 5- and 7-year-old children. Although some of the vocabularies was challenging for this age group to comprehend, it allowed us to infer meanings from context. A 4th grader should enjoy reading this book alone.

The story was only fair. It had some excellent descriptive writing, and the characters were nicely developed. It was interesting but slow to my 7-year-old. Plot fluff that felt unimportant and superfluous was incorporated, and the story was unduly stretched out. For what at first glance seemed to be a light children’s book, it was shockingly depressing. My daughter has requested no more books in this series.
