Summary The Light of Asia PDF Book Download

This biography is based on a blank verse epic poem that was first published in London in July 1879. When it was first released, it caught England by storm, and it was quickly followed by America and Europe.

The feverish enthusiasm for it would spread to other regions of the globe and last for several decades. Swami Vivekananda, an Indian monk who is still revered today, was enthralled by the novel. At around the same period, it strongly impacted Anagarika Dharmapala, a young man from Colombo who became famous in history.

In 1889, it piqued the interest of a young Indian lawyer in London. Mahatma Gandhi was the name given to this guy when he became eternal. It had an impact on a youngster in Allahabad who would go on to become India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, in 1947.

B.R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian constitution, has two copies of the book on his bookcases. It influenced the activities of men who were involved in the social justice movement in the early twentieth century, particularly in south India.

At least eleven literary figures from throughout the world were influenced by the book. Rudyard Kipling (1907), Rabindranath Tagore (1913), W.B. Yeats (1923), Ivan Bunin (1933), and T.S. Eliot (1948) were all Nobel Laureates.

Herman Melville, Leo Tolstoy, Lafcadio Hearn, D.H. Lawrence, John Masefield, and Jose Luis Borges are the other six. It paved the way for Joseph Campbell to become one of the world’s foremost experts on comparative mythology.
