Paperback The Measure Book Review
THE MEASURE, Nikki Erlick’s first book, is a fascinating, instructive, and frequently inspirational read. built with an intriguing premise Every adult over the age of 22 mysteriously receives a box that will never break, inside of which is a string, the length of which symbolizes the recipient’s longevity.
Is the box open? Avoid opening the box. The novel vividly depicts the joys, angst, anger, sacrifices, indecisions, and injustices of a small group of characters in contrast to the prejudices and inequities that politicians incited and exploited by playing on the anxieties of a fearful and agitated populace (sadly, probably very prescient).
Although some parts of the book seemed a little melodramatic to this reader, the book overall was a success deserving of this reader’s highest grade.
